Achilles Tendonitis
What is it?
Achilles Tendonitis involves either chronic (long term damage) or acute (short term injury) Inflammation at the origin of the Muscles of the back of the calf as they insert into the base of the foot. It occurs as a result of unusual Strain, which may be related to a specific injury or constant pressure from poor foot position during walking.
Achilles Tendonitis has a variety of causes and different treatment approaches will assist in different ways but as a general rule if the injury is acute then acupuncture or hands on massage and muslce work will get the quickest results otherwise for longstanding symptoms, a podiatry consult would be the first point of call.
